THE MISSION OF SERVEUP
SERVEUP has been and still is a key component in serving New England students
and staff to fulfill its mission on campus since 2006!
- Vision of the Project -
The goal of ServeUP (formally called KRUP-Katrina Relief Urban Plunge) ...other than rebuild homes impacted by a hurricane....was originally to help people feel safe around Christianity, so they may see it as an option and we will provide opportunities for these folks to learn more. The week is about what Christians are for: justice, love, and commitment to Jesus. No one should ever feel put in a corner to believe something, but given a safe, open place to explore. Through ServeUP we open huge doors on campus to engage with cynics and seekers. The experience of serving and exploring Jesus together during ServeUP has been used to transform the way IV fellowships interact with their campus all year long. Since 2006 over 7500 students have participated in ServeUP, with over 3500 being non-Churched students. Of these, over 600 students have become followers of Jesus during ServeUP and over 1000 students have moved from skeptic or cynic to becoming seekers of Jesus.
Serveup is unique among Short Term Missions
I know of no other STM which has this central mission of evangelism built within its mission to serve people in need.
ServeUP not only serves the community that we are going to but serves the ministry to go forward back on campus.
