 IMMUNIZATIONS
Check with a clinic which has experience with international travel  Your campus health center may or may not have someone with expertise here.
A few vaccinations should be taken 6 weeks before going overseas.
The following immunizations are recommendations from the CDC site and on the ground experience.
1. Current routine immunizations:  MMR  (Measles, mumps, rubella) and
               DPT  (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus), Polio
2. Yellow Fever    Now required
3.  Hepatitis A
4.  Hepatitis B

5.  Typhoid
Most of these diseases are contracted through water and food prep.  We will be taking all precautions necessary in not drinking unsafe water and never eating anything uncooked.
Malaria is a also real issue in the area.  As precaution we will be sleeping under nets and you should bring insect repellant with 98% active DEET in it.
All of the following antimalarial drugs are equal options for preventing malaria in Uganda:Atovaquone-proguanil, doxycycline, or mefloquine.
